Workshops: the heart of the
MagiKats programme
Students concentrate on topics that are relevant to their current academic year. We use a multi-sensory approach, mixing conventional work and enjoyable applied activities. We can offer extension, consolidation or remedial help as needed, including revision work and holiday programmes when required.
Core work: usually completed at home
Students practise and extend their core skills, using a programme designed to meet their individual needs. They usually complete five short assignments per week (5-10 mins per day). The work is marked and corrected at home (answer keys provided!), giving immediate support and feedback. There is no "standard" core work programme, rather every child is given work carefully selected just for them.
My child needs support
"School days are the happiest of your life!" How sad that this is not always true. They can be much improved, however, when a child feels that they can cope with the work that they face each day. As our programme works right across the school curriculum, children cover topics appropriate for their academic year so they can start to build confidence immediately. Between visits, carefully set work consolidates core skills and fills in any gaps that might exist in prior knowledge. Life becomes easier and confidence grows with understanding. Students enrolled on the programme become secure in the knowledge that they do not have to face difficult topics alone.
My child needs extending
Able students can find school tough too! They can often be bored and then find themselves in difficulty because they switched off at the wrong moment! These students can extend to their full potential, while still filling any gaps that might have crept in. They increase their focus and so derive the maximum benefit from each topic as it comes along, at MagiKats and at school.
My child needs a specific boost
Both national and school exams present their own challenges. A MagiKats booster programme will prepare your child specifically for these important events. Practice on syllabus topics and both past and specimen papers is an enormous help to any student. At boarding school or not able to attend workshops during term time? Our Summer Holiday Programme gives an eight-week boost at a time when most children's brains switch off. Fun material helps the child to progress while others slip back, giving a great boost for the start of the new academic year. Spaces on these programmes are strictly limited and priority is always given to our established students.
